It’s a very rare moment when the mere mention of someone’s name humbles you, causing you pause, and wishing “if only I could sit at the table with them, breaking bread and drinking and talking wine?”
That’s what the name, Becky Wasserman, evokes for me. It’s a “Bucket List” thing.
At the time (1978), this ex-pat from NYC moved to the tiny village of Saint-Romain in Burgundy. Americans were not exactly welcomed with open arms in Burgundy at the time; a woman even less so.
Becky Wasserman was not to be deterred. She took a job as a barrel merchant and soon after moved on to brokering and exporting wines to the US, a company she oversees to this day some 40+ years later.
Burgundy is not known for producing “bargain” wines, but Becky Wasserman’s portfolio continually represents incredible value and quality.
